A New Generation The book being used for this report is called Countering the Conspiracy to Destroy Black Boy by Jawanaza Kunjufu. The type of book can be categorized as black studies, psychology. The book can be used for parents seeking advice, community activists, church members and educators. The book could also be used as a helping tool to assure the correct development of how African American boys can grow into strong, responsible and educated men in America’s society. Kunjufu answers several questions in this book, but only a few will be analyzed in this book report, questions along the lines of how single mothers raises a son who happens to be a black male, why do black males kill other black men. These questions have not only†¦show more content†¦At this point the author is referring to the different connections that mothers and fathers have with each child. Mothers may have a better understanding with their daughters than sons, and vice versa. Not saying tha t single mothers are not worthy of rising a young man in a man, but there is a disconnect between the two. Usually that is why young African American males go out to the streets, because they receive a different type of love or affection from people out in the streets that they are not getting at home. Men and women have different thought patterns that coincide with parenting style. There is some stuff that only your mom can teach you and other stuff only your dad can. So once there is a continuation of this disconnect then it continue to be a generational things that can be displayed in the African American still to this day. This will have a long term effect whether that be conscious or unconscious it will carry him through his life. In the book there is a section called Infancy-None Years where the author talking about the production of life, and in one part he say, â€Å"I often ask the Lord if He would consider reversing the responsibility and allowing the males to become pregnant† (Kinjufu 8). Then the author places a picture on the page, of a black man, with the words next to him, â€Å"Would you be more careful if it was you that got pregnant?† (Kinjufu 8).
